The ABLE project

The ABLE project combines the production of fish and horticultural produce with a unique outdoor learning facility, training disadvantaged young people in horticulture, aquaculture, construction and environmental skills.

Alongside existing willow coppice, biomass heat production, recirculating aquaculture systems for tilapia, carp, sturgeon and catfish, outdoor vegetable plots, beehives and BMX track, Aquaponics UK designed and built a state-of-the art aquaponics greenhouse with and for the young people.

Complete with air source heat pump, heat recovery system and interactive control pad the greenhouse provides an interdisciplinary learning environment as well as a source of healthy food and supplementary income for the project.
