MoffatCAN

We had the privilege to be commissioned by MoffatCAN to design and install an aquaponics greenhouse for the building which the community had acquired…

The project provides and interesting mix of renewable energy demonstration (ground source heat pump, 10kw PV, solar thermal and heat recovery ventilation), with community recycling (cooking oil, aluminum, paper, plastic, clothes and furniture) as well as food production (aquaponics, outdoor allotments and poly-tunnels)

The aquaponics system produces tilapia and a mixture of salad and herb crops as well as melons and cucumber. All of which is consumed in local restaurants and homes.

Moffat CAN has attracted a great deal of attention and has been featured on “Country Tracks”, “Country File”, “Landward”. Its “tasty waste” initiative was recently the winner of national Lottery’s people’s millions award in a live vote on ITV.

See how the system works…
