About

Links and affiliations
Aquaponics UK was formed to provide a much needed link between the research community and proactive organisations and individuals that share a common goal in developing Aquaponics.
We are a social enterprise company, limited by public guarantee and operate as a not for profit organisation reinvesting any profits into scholarships, training, research grants and development. We maintain strong links with both academic institutions and also commercial and industrial organisations. Aquaponics UK intends to bring together these partnerships in a socially transparent framework.
Our philosophy
Our goal is to support innovation and to build capacity. Wherever possible we make conscious choices to ensure materials and methods employed have minimal negative impacts both socially and environmentally.
At Aquaponics UK we believe that if development is to be truly sustainable, then it needs to be economically, environmentally, and socially sustainable and to be integrated within the respective site specific requirements.
Accountability
Ask us anything, we're an open book......
How we're funded
Aquaponics UK was established with the assistance of a Millennium Award through Scotland UnLtd and has been developed in partnership with the Institute of Aquaculture and the University of Stirling.
Aquaponics UK generates its funding from a number of transparent sources but primarily through the provision of products and services to organisations and individuals across the UK. Where appropriate funding is also generated through research and development grants, however profits are recycled, and reinvested through the allocation of research scholarships and when feasible, grant funding support.
Student support and Training
At Aquaponics UK we encourage and support the participation of both undergraduate and postgraduate students in aquaponics research and development . To date we have supported a wide range of students ranging from the Institute of Aquaculture at Stirling, to Erasmus student from the Basque country, and covering disciplines ranging from architecture to sustainable development and life cycle assessment.
